Handler was an actor to earn a living for herself. Handler started doing stand-up comedian full-time when she turned 21. She had discovered that she was gifted with telling stories. Handler started her career by joining the all-female Oxygen cast, which featured in a tv show known as Girls Behaving Badly. This series was known for its hidden camera and the practical joke. The show ran between 2002 and 2005. The handler was later employed in numerous other shows including Weekends at D.L. The Bernie Mac Show My Wife and Kids, The Practice The Practice, and Weekends at D.L. Handler began her career as a correspondent on The Tonight Show. Handler had her biggest break in 2006 when she took over hosting of E! The Chelsea Handler Program. The show ran for two seasons.
